Getting couple rings with my gf, need help! Thanks!?

Recently, my gf's been saying that we should get the couple rings, and how it symbolize love and all that...And my gf brought up the fact that her ex bought her a diamond ring and she wore it(however, she told me she threw it away after they broke up), I am not all that satisfied to hear this, if she is willing to wear a diamond ring from someone, yet, dumps him so easily, I highly doubt her understanding of love. with all her previous "glorious" histories, I am not sure if I should give in on this Ring Thing. Let me know what you think, thanks.

Most girls fantasize about that big and special day in their lives (getting married) and so what happens is they are usually given whats called a 'Promise Ring'. This symbolizes to you and her that the day will indeed come, because you keep a promise to each other. It also lets other guys know she is taken.

I once gave my long time g/f a promise ring and she wore it on her Ring Finger. It doesnt have to be diamonds at all. It can be anything, because it is what the ring symbolizes, and not the ring itself.

If she expects diamonds for a simple Promise Ring, that may be pushing it and she may be materialistic.....that or she is swayed by 'her friend that got one' or some 'movie/tv show/celebrity that has one.

Is getting one a good idea? If you love her enough and know deep in your heart that you could marry her, then absolutely. Is a diamond ring necessary for the Promise Ring? Absolutely not.

If she looks at you funny when you give her a simply silver or gold band, you could always wink and say something like 'I myself would like to save the real deal for that one and special day' or whatever.

Girls want to feel needed and loved. I broke up with my g/f when she came home from a trip, and within two years, she was married to some other guy. Only if YOU are serious about her will this work. Other wise that promise ring will turn out to be a promise to yourself never to do this again.
