price of a ruby i have?
i have a purplish-red oval cut ruby all i know is that it is a genuine ruby and it is 5.49 carats it is not clear at all its just a dark purplish-red about how much can a ruby as specified run for???

Speak to local reputable jewellers about who is an appropriate appraiser in your area. If the jewellers themselves don't do it, they will know who is the right person to go to.
One piece of advice though - NEVER let the ruby out of your sight. If they say they need to keep it for a week, you should decline and find someone else. The reason is that if it is very valuable, you risk them doing a switch when its out of your sight, and you end up with a hunk of glass and no way to prove its not the original.
