Should I keep the cubic zirconia wedding band he got me?

I know my boyfriend is not financially stable yet. He just got out of college and is searching for an engineering job. TOday he surprised me and bought me a 148 dollar cubic zirconia wedding ring. The thing is that it is a little too large and people are speaking very negatively bc it is CZ. My Ring Size is a 6 and he got a 7 and the thing is too large. I have to wear it on my middle finger to keep it on. Do you think I should get him to return it or not?

Personally, I don't see how a diamond ring validates your relationship. My husband did something similar when we first got married...except i was a real diamond, just so tiny that my little sister actually laughed when she first saw it (that made me mad, btw). He bought the best that he could at the time though, and that means a lot to me. We really didn't have a lot when we were starting out. I eventually lost it, and for awhile... I'd buy cubic zirconia rings just so I'd look married. Now that we can actually afford a "real" ring, (been married 4 years now) I've decided that I don't even really LIKE diamonds all that much, and I'd rather spend the money on something we can actually use, like nicer furniture, etc... So.. I got an opal ring. I love opals. People might look down on that, but it's what I like.

My point is... it's up to you. Try to brush off the nasty things that others say. It's YOUR ring, and it's YOUR man. Try not to hurt his feelings though if you really want it returned, You could just tell him that while you appreciate the gesture, a simple band will do until you both feel that you can afford a "real" ring if you are not comfortable wearing the CZ. Congrats on your engagement btw!
