Is it acceptable for a woman to wear a simple gold band when engaged?
My boyfriend just proposed marriage to me, but we will not be able to focus on purchasing a "real" engagement ring because of an upcoming surgery. I'd like to wear some sort of engagement ring on my Ring Finger. Does it look strange for a woman to wear a simple gold band in lieu of a diamond ring (we will eventually purchase a diamond ring)?
yes, it is perfectly acceptable. what is important is that yu have made a committment to each other, and if you want to wear a symbol of that committment in the form of a simple gold band, that is perfectly fine. this is YOUR relationship and whatever works for you is fine. I happen to know a woman who was married young when they didn't have much money and her husband made her a wedding band out of an old silver spoon handle. Twenty years leter, even though they are much more financially secure now, she still wears that ring because it is still a symbol of their love. Maybe you could find a unique but still affordable band at asecond hand store or pawn shop. or have your initials or something else meaningful engraved in the band to make it special to you. of course diamonds are nice, but your love is what is really important. just try to make it special to you.good luck and God bless.
