Ring Light
ring light
The metal ring came off the light bulb inside the light socket. How do we get it out?
My husband was trying to change a light bulb, and the glass part separated from the metal part (the threads). The metal part is still in the light socket, and we're having a heck of a time getting it out. He tried twisting with needle nose pliers, but he said it's all rusty and won't turn. Any ideas?
Sometimes the base of the bulb is jammed really tightly into the socket and almost impossible to turn, which is probably why the bulb broke in the first place. This is what happens to cheap crap bulbs made in China or Mexico.
If you grab the base of the bulb that was left in the socket at various spots around the top of it with needle nose pliers and bend the sides in towards the center all the way around it will loosen it enough to enable you to unscrew it.
I have had to do this myself. By the way, that part of the base is the neutral AC line, so you can actually do this while the electricity is on, just be careful not to touch the center of the bottom on the inside.
