Had a watch on my wrist and in the morning my pinky, Ring Finger, and right side of wrist are numb for 2 days
I Had a new watch on my right wrist and in the morning my pinky, ring finger, and right side of wrist were numb. Its been like this for 3 days now. I thought the feeling would come back by now but it hasnt. Have i damaged the nerves? The nerve like pain seems to be coming from right above the bone in your wrist. Please help. Thanks.
This reads as if you have caused some inflammation around the median nerve, the same of someone with carpel tunnel syndrome. In your case, however, it should subside within a few days as long as you stop wearing such a snug-fitting watch to bed or for long periods of time. You can try icing the area and taking a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory such as Advil, Aleve, or some other ibuprofen. Don't take acetaminophen, though. Acetaminophen is for headaches, not carpal tunnel syndrome or the like.
The median nerve is the only nerve that passes through the carpal tunnel, where it may be compressed to cause carpal tunnel syndrome. In the hand, the median nerve innervates the skin of the palmar side of the thumb, the index and middle finger, half the ring finger, and the nail bed of these fingers. The lateral part of the palm is supplied by the palmar cutaneous branch of the median nerve which leaves the nerve proximal to the wrist creases.
So... if you caused swelling in this narrow carpal tunnel, you will understandably, feel tingling and numbness in the corresponding fingers.
