help! i am soo pist. i made this really cool sling (no sew ring sling) and i have been trying to wear it for a

week! he is soo heavy and it kills my back and chest. i am not a baby he is just REAL big and heavy. he was 17 lbs a week or 2 ago but he is probably pushing 20 lbs now and 3 months. what carriers are better for bigger babies? i really want to wear him but maybe me making the wrap was a bad idea?...i have used a snugli but it sucks..any suggestions or should i just get over it and be in pain when i wear him...

Just be in pain? No. That's bad advice.

It's possible the sling is not adequately supportive. You might want to try a New Native Baby Carrier - they're fabulous, and you can carry baby on your hip until he reaches about 35 pounds. (Link below.) A friend of mine still totes her 3 y.o. in one.

It's also possible that you're just not strong enough to wear your baby in any carrier right now. It seems unlikely, but if you had a hard pregnancy and aren't very physically active, perhaps you need to get stronger. In which case, carrying your baby for very short lengths of time - five minutes, then ten, then twenty - around the house might build up your endurance.

But if you continue to feel pain, that's a signal that something is wrong. And back strain is an awful thing, especially when you have no choice but to lift your child.

Please don't just suffer.
