Ruby Diamond Estate

How you are not extinguished when jeweler to look at what I think might be valuable?
A friend and I went to a sale auction of goods at the weekend and one of the lots you have won a lot of various jewelry, some of which I suppose has actual calculations. I have not had lot of experience with precious stones, only silver and gold, but assuming that the way some of these stones are real (I guess diamonds, rubies, topaz and perhaps), how I know that the jeweler does not try to catch me and tell me that these stones are false and buy below the market value? Most of the pieces that I think the stones could be real clear definition of sterling silver marked 925, and although I not much experience with stones, as I said, I bought a batch of scrap sterling silver in recent years and are difficult to imagine that rhinestones were bands sterling real. But maybe I'm wrong.
As do some research to know a little about the stones. GIA has some tutorials you talk a little about what to see. There are obvious things to do, but in some cases, it takes an expert to know what are the stones. One thing is expensive than the stones are usually set to 14 or 18 carats. If gold is less than 14 or if the set stones in silver, are probably not useful. Most jewelers have no reason to lie. You could take a number of jewelry stores to have different ideas.
