Does anyone know if there is a difference of "Russia" Alexandrite and "Brazilian" Alexandrite gems.
Heres the deal ... I am interested in finding the perfect stone to put on my engagement ring. So, I want an alexandrite, which is one of the rarest all gemstones. There is a "standard" by the books I was reading (undated), the color change of light filament must be green red. But I see all these pictures of "Brazil" Alexandrite and are blue and pink, light purple to purplish red. Then I wonder if the standard "has changed, or try to sell us a stone not Alexandrite.
Alexandrite Alexandrite is, no matter where it comes. Although many sites are available alexandrite in the world are now in the color change barely noticeable to very hard, green to reddish brown, oil, etc. Purple Rose is the classic "chair" change from red to green that commands higher prices.
