But when I tried to use it, no water would come out, and I assumed it was stupid design because you need to be able to squeeze the bottle to push the water out, but you can't squeeze stainless steel bottles.

So I returned it and bought a more expensive bottle with a simple screw off top. But when I Google-d sports cap tops for stainless steel water bottles, people said that they worked fine (not for the particular one I had, but in general).

Am I doing something wrong, or are sport caps not for stainless steel bottles?
